Lines from the Library
by Chelsea Oliphant

Welcome back to Lines from the Library! We hope everyone is having a wonderful summer so far, it’s hard to believe that summer is half over! We have been having a wonderful summer here at the library; we thank you all for acknowledging our summer hours which will remain in effect until September 1st.
I would like to bring you up to date on the summer reading program. We have two programs running, one for adults and one for children. In the children’s program we have 78 participants! For every 30 minutes of reading, or about 3 books, the kids are entered into a draw for some awesome prizes. Also, each time they come to take out books they are entered into our weekly draw, and can spin our wheel for an in-branch prize. Take a picture home to colour and they receive a voucher for a free ice cream cup at the co-op! The program, as always, is getting kids reading and using the library all summer long! Thank you so much to all the families that are participating, we hope your summer is enriched by this program.
Our adult reading challenge is in full swing as well. There are some amazing prizes you could win by participating! Each time you read three books from our list of categories you are entered to win one of three Wheatland-wide prizes. First prize is a one-night stay at the Travelodge in Saskatoon, a Wheatland 50th Anniversary tote bag, and a selection of goodies and books. Second prize is a gift card and books. Third prize is a 50th anniversary Wheatland tote bag. All you have to do is come into the library pick up a ballot and get reading! Entries must be received by September 1st. If you are having trouble deciding what to read that fits into the reading challenge categories, we have displays all over the library with great suggestions, come in and look for the books with red stickers. Please contact us if you have any questions or would like to participate in the program. Happy summer reading everyone!
