Wow, June is almost half over and summer is almost here! We would like to announce changes to the Eston Branch’s library hours for the summer months. Our summer hours begin July 1st 2017. The library will be open Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 2:00-5:00 pm. On Wednesdays we will be open from 2:00 – 8:00 pm. We will be closed on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. We will resume regular hours on September 1st 2017. If you have any questions or concerns about these changes, please let us know.

We are thrilled to invite you all to our celebration of Wheatland Regional Library’s 50th Birthday. On Saturday June 17th from 12:00 until 2:00 pm join us for cake and refreshments, sidewalk activities, a memorabilia display, scrapbooks, and a video all in recognition of the history and importance of the library in our community. We are also offering pre-registration for this year’s summer reading program. Both kids and adults are welcome to register in their respective programs. For adults, there are 3 prizes available to won, which you can enter to win by reading books in various categories. Please see us for more details. Kids, the official start will be July 4th. At this time the wheel will be brought out of storage again and there are great prizes to be won each time they borrow material from the library. We hope to see you all on June 17th for a piece of cake and get you registered for a summer of reading fun!

In 1967 Eston was the last of 16 branches to join Wheatland. Our official joining date was December 14, 1967. Wheatland Regional Library’s first card holder (with a card number of 1) was Mrs. Ella Miller of Perdue, Saskatchewan. Today, Wheatland is the home of 45 branches and serves 95,000 patrons. As an integral part of the community, we would like to thank our patrons for your support and hope you will come to celebrate with the Eston branch on June 17th!
